Every bit you do to save energy, reduce waste, and preserve the planet makes a difference. Degree of Honor has a common bond that uses words like values, support, protection, strengthen, and respect. If we each do our part, whether we turn off the lights when we leave a room or take public transportation instead of driving, we demonstrate our commitment to this bond.

In our home office, each of our employees have a paper box under their desk to do their part to recycle paper, In 2008, we began printing many of our forms on demand rather than keep a large supply on hand and have to destroy it once the form is updated. We use phone messages and email rather than written notes that will be discarded.

A statement in our common bond is the promotion of the family unit and seeking of ways to strengthen it. A great way to do that is take your family on a day trip. If you have a good zoo nearby, (if the animals are healthy and the zoo takes care of them), support it! Especially if they breed endangered animals. Who knew that you were doing your part to save a threatened species just by enjoying a day with your family and friends at the zoo!

Natural cleaners avoid the unhealthy environmental and household dangers of toxic chemicals, volatile organic compounds (VOC) and other health risks. Ounce for ounce, homemade cleaners cost one-tenth of the price of their commercial counterparts. If you missed the recipes we gave you in our winter Honor publication, |

There are so many ways you can do your part, here are just a few;
- Turn off the lights when you leave the room.
- Turn off other electric things like TVs, stereos and radios when not in use.
- Use rechargeable batteries.
- Do things manually instead of electrically, like open cans by hand.
- Use fans instead of air conditioners.
- In winter, wear a sweater instead of turning up your thermostat - better yet, install a programmable thermostat that's set to automatically go down when you're sleeping or not at home during the day. This could also trim the average utility bill $180 per year.
- Whenever possible, use public transportation or ride your bike or walk.
- Plant trees, especially if you have to cut one down. This can be a great project to do with your children.
- Compost
- Cut up your six-pack rings before throwing them out
- REDUCE, REUSE, & RECYCLE!
